So the Beta version of MS Hypervisor has been released with the W2K8 RC1 (Enterprise).
Decided to scrap my RC0 install and do a fresh install of RC1. All went dandy, and everything seemed to install without any problems.
Until I wanted to configure Hyper-V and found no items to configure....
Checked the services and found the 'Virtual Machine Management' service would not start. Trusted old Google led me to this post, and sure enough: being in South Africa I chose EN-ZA as the locale. Sigh...re-installed W2K8 and added the Hyper-V role, after which all was honkey dory.
Just to be sure I changed the locale settings back to that of South Africa, and it still works. Beta software can drive you round the bend. But seriously, Hyper-V in RC1 (well, RC1 in itself), looks much more stable.
